چکیده

From the application of chemical thermodynamics a quartz solubility regression expression along the water-vapor saturation curve for whole range of temperature from 0 to 374oC was developed. The equation is the following ( ) ( ) 08 . 0 88 . 4 ) ( 7 . 31 7 1175 ) ( log 2 ± + ± ⋅ − = K T ppm SiO The correction of total discharge silica composition from a well for the vapor fraction in the geothermal reservoir is a fundamental limitation to use this equation as a geothermometer. For knowing the vapor fraction there is indirectly need of knowing the reservoir temperature. It is possible to calculate the deep reservoir temperature with iteration process, but a basic assumption is that the reservoir fluid is in equilibrium with quartz. The concept is elucidated in case of the Cerro Prieto geothermal system.

Qrtzgeotherm: An ActiveX component for the quartz solubility geothermometer

SUMMARY – An ActiveX component to calculate temperature and vapour fraction in a geothermal reservoir using the quartz solubility geothermometry was written in Visual Basic. The approach is based on the conservation of mass and energy (enthalpy). Four representative types of regression equations for quartz solubility: (i) a quadratic regression equation of 1/T and pressure P, (ii) a linear equa...

Pressure Dependence of Liquid Vapor Pressure: An Improved Gibbs Prediction

A new model for the vapor phase of a pressurized liquid called "the cluster model: which is originally introduced in this work, along with an accurate equation of state for the liquid phase called the LIR, is used to derive an accurate equation for the vapor pressure of liquid as a function of external pressure. The chemical Potential of both phase have been found to be in good agreement wi...

Temperature–Moisture Dependence of the Deep Convective Transition as a Constraint on Entrainment in Climate Models

Properties of the transition to strong deep convection, as previously observed in satellite precipitation statistics, are analyzed using parcel stability computations and a convective plume velocity equation. A set of alternative entrainment assumptions yields very different characteristics of the deep convection onset boundary (here measured by conditional instability and plume vertical veloci...

Aqueous inorganic phase equilibria at high temperatures: some experimental, theoretical, and applied aspects

Experimental studies generally performed at this laboratory on the solubility of particular salts and oxides in dilute and concentrated aqueous solutions of electrolytes at temperatures up to 400°C are presented. The techniques used are described. Some of this work applies an extended Debye-HUckel equation as a function of the ionic strength of the solution at the high temperatures. From the va...
